In general Savage 308's shoot very well. I have found that the 10 twist Savage barrels shoots the heavier bullets better than the lighter bullets. 155's being on the light end and 175 or 180's on the heavy end. Anything heavier and you are loosing ground. don't waist your time with NATO AMMO if you want accuracy. I have seen factory barrels shoot 1/2 groups consistently with hand loads. If it does not shoot well let the members here help out, if that doesn't work call Savage.

My Savage 10 did well with the factory barrel. I wasn't really interested in how well it shot as I was going for a rebarrel from the start but groups were good and mine also liked the heavier bullets. I shot some 150's and 165's, 180's and the groups on the heavier rounds were tighter. Mine was never a tack driver that I know of, as I said, I wasn't measuring groups but 1 moa did show up a few times. Might have been better if I cared but was throwing lead downrange to get the scope set up, abuse the barrel and didn't really care because the new barrel was sitting in the safe just begging to be put on.

165 yards with a hundred 50 grain Federal graybox I can get a little under inch. And that's with the scope rings came with it
