Accutrigger adjustment

Aside from the adjustment screw what other modifications can be done to the accutrigger to get the pull weight down? Have mine adjusted all the way down on my model 12 204 and its almost 3 pounds. Would like it down around 2lbs. Also is there a way to tell if i have a hunting or varmit accu? Did a search of forum but didnt really come up with what i was looking for. Thanks again

If it's fairly new, it'll loosen up as you shoot it. The only difference in the two triggers is the spring at the rear where the tool goes in.

its not fairly new. Did i read somewhere that one can cut a coil or two off spring? Or just get a spring from sss?

Accua-Triggers are a big improvement over whats generally available. They are not that good as either target or varmit hunting triggers. I've bought several SSS triggers for older non-accua-trigger rifles while retaining the Accua-Triggers on those equiped. The Accua-Triggers work very well for general hunting applications. They lack horribly for target or varmit work.

im aware of the quality of sss triggers as i own and use three of them just wondered if there was other mods i could do to improve the accutriggers adjustment thanks

...I just cut a coil off all of mine...Just rebend the little tit...It's a tuff little bugger.. ;)

Your model 12 in 204 should have the lighter varmint trigger. Should be able to go down to 1.5lbs.

That's right. Even at 1.5 lbs or 24 oz. you still need some good trigger management to hold on tiny targets @ 100 yards. When I do get really good results like three touching inside a 1" red dot I realize that it was careful trigger control, cheek weld etc. The groups open up real quick if you slack off even a bit. I don't consider it a target trigger even set at it's lowest and well broken in. It is safe though.
