scope for 500 yard target

Looking for a good scope for 500 yard paper targets with bullseye..
Can't afford a high dollar like some guys use.
Just want something clear and with good adjustments..Thanks

What kind of ball park is your budget? do you want tactical turrets? do you want MOA or MIL reticle? there are some variables that need to be given, before anyone can give you a suggestion.

Some makers of medium range optics are:

Vortex, Redfield, Burris, Bushnell just to name a few.

Look at Optics Planet and brows your options to decide what features you want vs. need... That should shorten the list for you...

Or What Robinhood said. That super sniper has gotten a lot of good reviews.

While its probably marginal for 500 yds, depends on what the target type is, I have a Cabella Japanese scope that is my go to for target.,

It has between a medium and fine cross hair, which I can see and does not fade.
I move it between two rifles as other than the Nightforce its the best scope.

12 X.

I would not get a Philippine made one and Cabella has both so you have to watch it.

My specific model is discontinued but they have similar.

Not saying or even implying that some of the new low cost scopes aren't good scopes.
Ive frankly never looked at them as ive never had any need to.
But, my old Leupolds are certainly clear enough for my 82 year old eyes to make out things at some long distances.
I have a few straight 12x VX3s with target knobs, and a few 3.5x10 VX3s also. Those scopes can be found on Ebay for about $300.
A couple years back I bought an older Savage 110 in 7 mag with a 3.5x10 on it pretty cheap. I sold the gun and kept the scope.
I sent it to Leupold for a reticle change from the heavy duplex it had. After a bit they notified me they discovered scope had issues with the erector system and they didn't have parts to fix it. So for the price of the difference in reticle cost they shipped me a brand new scope.
In my opinion that's a good warranty.

that's what I went with only the 20x...nice and clear... Good choice if you don't have high humidity and heat. Mirage is horrible at 20X and plus where I am and the 20 can white-out on occasion. If your shooting f/class then get a shield to help..

Gotta agree there. Mirage can get bad out here and the only way to combat it is to back off the magnification. Add to that a hot barrel and a fixed power scope and you may get in trouble. I use 12-16x max for hunting to competition and don't feel I need more.

The SWFA SS 10X or 16X will serve you well. For the money, nothing beats it. Warranty is about the best in the industry. Its mil-dot. Suggest you get the Mil-Dot ballistics app for your phone. Good inexpensive app. Has allot of features. Have had the 10X, 16X and 20X that was on my 50BMG. Rock solid. For $299, or cheaper in the EE section on AR15.com sometimes. Glass is great.
