458wm barrel swap.

I have a 458WM barrel on the way. Do I need a different magazine body? I have not been able to find any 458 magazine bodies.

The donor action is 7mm mag staggered feed 110 with flat rear.

i started with 2 110 rifles. a 7 Mag and a 270. The magazine on the 7 Mag had a cut out for the belt at the rear. The magazine you have may work. Try it out first. Let us know how you make out. You'll be welcome here.

It should work. Its the same parent cartridge to the 7 mm Rem Mag.

I did some work on the feed ramp to make it a lttle wider, and smoothed a few things out to keep lead and lead tipped bullets from getting scratched up. So far it looks like the original mag body is going to work. The barrel is not here yet, but I screwed the 7mm mag barrel in and played with it a little. I don't know what year this savage was made, but it was full of sharp edges and burrs... It was really tearing up the brass. Barrel should be here this week. It was listed on the ER Shaw site on the "Overruns/Cancellations" page.

Barrel is on, it feeds fine. Test fired it today with no issues. The Finish on the ER Shaw barrel is gorgeous. I'm going to bed the action in a boyds stock over the next few days.
