As stated above, my brand new 243 axis needed a lot of windage adjustment for sight in, what can this be a sign of? Should i be worried?

Scope, rings, bases, base screw holes in the action and the intersection of the action and barrel are the 5 main problems. There is also the bent barrel and stock issues. Simple things to look for. Base is tight. Rings are seated on the base. Rings are sufficiently secured to the base and scope.

Rotate one ring at a time to see if POI changes significantly. lay a straight edge down one side of the bse to see if the barrel is bent. Try the same thing on the other side to compare.

Try a different base or rings if you have 'em.

Try another scope. If that is not an option call savage.

In my many decades of scoping rifles, I cannot recall a single time when some substantial adjustment in windage or elevation was not required to get a new scope zeroed. Likely, nothing is amiss.

If I stare at the blank screen for 8 minutes, something happens? 'Cause that's all I see...;)

My Axis II 30-06 needed about 8 inches (at 50 yds) of windage and 2 inches elevation adjustment when it was fresh outa the box. But it's been sitting rock solid ever since. I think maybe they've been bore sighting them at 10 feet.......

If they bore-sight them at all. I have examined 2 "package deal" Axis rifles with scopes in stores on which the scope mounts were not even screwed all the way down. Not really a criticism of Savage, as I don't expect it all to be done for me and I am sure it would save some fraction of a dollar for them not to have an employee take the time to bore-sight.

I too had to make significant adjustments to both elevation and windage on my brand new Axis XP 30/06 today at the range...it wasn't even on the paper in the beginning...didn't seem to have been factory adjusted at all if you ask me...
