B&C A2 Mod question?

Thinking about getting a B&C A2 and grinding the flat forend off and make it look like a McMillian A3/A5'ish stock. Question is, anybody have any luck doing this and refinishing without all the "textured" stuff covering the sanding job?

The guy did a great job. The texture he put on there was not to cover the sanding, he just wanted it that way. Paint would do the same...

I'll be doing this in January when I redeploy.
