Hello. I am reloading Hornady 68 gr Match bullets for my 223 Savage Axis. I get acceptable groups seating to 2.38" oal. My problem is anything seated longer than 2.34"catches halfway to the chamber from the magazine. My question is: Is there something I could polish to allow a smoother transfer from magazine to chamber or do I just need to stay below 2.34 oal ? The magazine will comfortably hold a 2.40" cartridge.

Try opening up the mag lips a little starting on the muzzle end so it let's the cartridge come out earlier.

You can also open the mag lips a little in the rear if ya want. It will allow the cartridge to sit a little higher when the bolt is back, just don't open them too much or it'll pop out on ya

I'm going to dissent just a wee bit. If you haven't already, load a batch to the shorter length. If you find the accuracy deteriorates, then address the rifle. With my .223 I have found it made no difference when I shortened the loads to feed better.

Try feeding at a faster pace. Many push feed actions with certain magazines don't work all that well when feeding the cartridges from the magazine at a slow pace.

Don't be shy, work that F-:censored:-ing bolt faster like you mean it !
