Ok I have done some research for this and can only find data on the 105s. Ok what kind of velocity could I expect with like a 87 g vmax? I'm thinking about building one for shooting prairie dogs and just plinking steel.

Not sure on the Creed, but since it's very similar to the 243, speed wise, I'd say about 3200-3300 from a 22" tube. One thing to just be aware of, most Creedmore barrels are fairly fast twist, and there can be a possibility of over spinning the light bullets. Wouldn't hurt anything but groups. Others may know more on that and prove me wrong, hopefully.

Yep, Handi has you squared away.
The 6mm Creedmoor is a longrange target system, so fast twist for the longest match bullets. Much like the 6.5 Creed being the same performance wise as the 260, the 6mm is the practical same as the 243.

I haven't looked at any 6 Creed data, but here is your math and numbers from Hornady.
Velocity * 720 / twist = RPM.

Hornady states an approximate RPM limit of 290,000 RPM for the V-max. As with anything, YOUR barrel smoothness will change the absolute number. With a 7-twist, 3200 fps will give blow those bullets apart.
So either run them slow, or do something else.

Well I'll have to go with an 8 or 9 twist then I guess. Seems like you can get a little more velocity with the creedmoore.

I would look closely at the 8. A 9 twist is good for 100gr, and some 105's, but the 8 will handle just about everything but the DTAC 115 gr, and there might be others. I believe it requires a 7. I think the only ones that will overspin with an 8 would be the 60- bullets.

Get a 8 twist and don't worry about over spinning the 87gr bullets.

I've shot 55 and 58 grainers out of my 8 twist 243win and no problems with accuracy or speed. :smug:
