Hey! I'm new to this Savage site. I'm in Richmond, VA. I have owned a Axis SS for 3 years now and love it. 7mm-08. I thought about getting a different stock when I first got it, as it felt a little cheap. But since it was the only synthetic stock rifle I owned, it grew on me and I now have no desire to change it out. I started doing research on adding another rifle to my collection and decided a matching, SS Axis XP in 25-06 was the ticket. I purchased this rifle a few months ago and I am equally pleased. The only odd thing is that the stock (LOP) is a bit shorter. I noticed it as soon as I first shouldered the gun. I called Savage and long story short... the 7-08 I have was one of the first production Axis' and LOP was 14" and the new 25-06 is 13.5". Much closer to 13" on my tape. Either way, it still fits, it's just a little different. The only modification I have done is installed the trigger (spring) upgrade kit, sold on Ebay, on both rifles. Not perfect or high dollar, but much better than stock. I love shooting both rifles. I have taken one 7pt buck on public land with the 7-08 and have not gotten the 25-06 into the woods yet. I am reloading for the 7-08. Haven't decided to gear up for the '06 yet though.
