I have noticed on the Savage rifle's that the bolt seem's stiff and is not very smooth. Does this get better over time as they are broke in ? Don't own one yet but would like to purchase one, just don't like the feel of the bolt.

it gets better. i have moved on to the upper end custom rimfires for matchs. i have found that the savage rifles are great small game rifles. they don't have locking lgs on the bolts like the upper end match rifles do. this doesn't matter on a small game rifle. they can be made to shoot pretty good with a small amount of work. i recrowned mine, worked the trigger over, glass and piller bedded them. i went as far as to have the barrel taken out of one, cut the chamber off and rechambered it with a match chamber. it shoots better, but noplace near a match rifle.

good .22lr barrels are choked. they get tighter the closer you get to the muzzle. savage rifles are not choked. that said forwhat they are they do shoot good. they are a budget minded rimfire rifle.
