55 years ago two friends and I crossed the Darien in Panama on foot. We carried weapons. My friend carried a Savage 99 in 22 HiPower and that was when I began to appreciate 99's. A year ago I bought my first 99, a .300 Savage circa 1952. Recently I was thinking of buying a 22 HiPower at a local auction and went to the web to see what they were going for. I found one that was listed as being from my friend's hometown. He had died two years ago. In the description, the seller said his dad had carried it across the Darien. Needless to say, I called and I know own the gun.
Turns out to be a 1899H but its missing the butt plate. So I'll send a note about that soon.

I think they are shooting works of art!!!
