Been upgrading nearly every aspect of this rifle and I don't like the cheap, flimsy plastic mag bottom. Are there some higher quality replacement's easily available? .308

To the best of my knowledge you would have to change the stock for one with the correct inlet to facilitate the use of the metal framed savage bottom metal.

CDI's conversion and hardware are really nice, but Robin is right. It is not a drop-in fix.

I have a video on YouTube where I changed the plastic bottom metal from a 11vt to model 10 bottom metal that doesn't use the plastic clips. Just search 11vt bottom metal or Savage 20rd mag and you will find my videos.

And who makes bottom metal for an Axis that accepts factory Savage magazines with metal bottoms? Nobody I know of.

That's all fine and dandy, but we're talking about an Axis here, not a 110. Screw spacing is different so those parts won't fit.

Some of you guys need to pay a little more attention to what board your in when giving advice and making recommendations.

My 11vt used a Axis mag and I found some model 10 bottom metal and it fit perfectly now I can use factory mags with the metal base plate, short action spacing is the same

Again, we're talking an Axis here, not a 11VT. The 11VT synthetic stock (4.40" screw spacing) is molded to accept the metal bottom hardware, BUT it came (from the factory) with a plastic hardware designed to accepted Axis magazines as a cost saving measure (thus why they're cheaper than a model with the metal hardware). As such you can easily swap one for the other just as you did.

The Axis (4.80" screw spacing) stock has no insert, thus no inlet for said insert or bottom metal like your 11VT stock. It's just like the Trophy Hunter stocks where the insert and stock are molded as one piece. No matter how hard you try, bottom metal with 4.40" screw spacing (s/a) or 5.062" (l/a) from the 110-series isn't going to bolt onto an Axis with 4.80" screw spacing.

My apologies as well.
