Well I went of a scratched an itch I've had for a long time today, I got a Savage 516 in 243, it's the stainless model and I got it with bi-pods and a Redfield 2.5-7 scope. It's got the adjustable muzzle break and of the 10 rounds I got to shoot this thing is going to be a blast!

I did a little searching and I really didn't find a wealth of information on these so I'd like to ask if anyone can point me to some information? I found a great write up over on 6mmbr website but not all of what I was looking for. The lawyer trigger on this thing needs some help and this little pistol should be a tack driver. Any help you fela's caan offer up would be most appreciated! Later,

Kirk

They are very fun to shoot indeed. The Stiker specialists here on the forum are Blue Avenger and 358Hammer. Either of those guys can tell you whatever you need to know about them.

I know there is a way to swap out to a Timney trigger but cutting off the trigger shoe and just using the adjustable portion of it. I know Blue Avenger has a couple like this, so maybe he can shed some light on it for ya.

You could also swap out the stock and factory trigger setup, and make it a rear grip stock and it'll use a standard trigger, like a Timney, Rifle Basix, or SSS. The rear grips make it a real joy to shoot as the muzzle jump is much less.

Thank you very much for the info! I'll have to drop those guys a line when I get a chance for sure.

Yep this little rifle/pistol is fun, I don't kow if I'll leave it a 243 or bump it up a touch I'm thinking a 260 or 7-08 would make it a little better on the long range portion and hit these little Okie deer a touch harder OR I could chamber it in 284 Win like my deer rifle now! I think the muzzle blast would be a touch on the harsh side :-) Later,
