I have a project I'm working on and I need to know a few things about Savage barrels please. What is the length of the tenon on the small shank barrels? What is the length of the threaded portion inside the barrel nut? And also I'm assuming the barrel nut will only thread on from the chamber end correct? Been awhile since I've re-barreled a Savage. Really appreciate the help.

Just measured a shot out 308 FCP-K barrel and the tenon length is 1.600" to the barrel's breech end.

Measured a smooth barrel nut that came off of a 7mm08 m11 and the threads length is about 0.58"

And yes. The barrel nut can only go on from the chamber breech end.

If you are using a thicker recoil lug add a thread or two to that(1/16th or 1/8")

Anytime Ben.

Glad to help.

I just happen to be the first to answer your post. Plenty of other folks on this forum are just as eager to help, and know tons more than me about Savage firearms.
