I have the same gun in .308. It strings vertically. Groups 2 or three then one high consistently. Is that why you want to skim coat it? I was thinking about doing the same thing, maybe changing stocks? Send me a PM if you'd like.

Thanks....

Ya I shoot 5 round groups, consistently I get 3 in one nice group, and the other 2 just go in to the next zip code. I did the skim coat today, its drying know ! Should get a chance to try it Tuesday, will let you know how it works !

Sorry tried to post pic’s of some targets, but Photobucket just sucks !!
What a pan in the a$$, it just will not let me log-on. So I apologize.
But I have got down to 3/8” (no stringing) , but I’m still working on the load.

Sounds great, thanks for the update. I bought one so I could run the SSS ACME DBM kit.

The SSS ACME DBM kit fits great, and looks like a custom fit.............

Scamp, what torque setting were you using before you skim bedded? IIRC Choate suggests around 50 - 65 lb in. I have skim bedded all of my B&C stocks but now wish I had tried the higher torque settings first.

65 ! and that after a few times stipped the head of the bolt !

After my action screws bottomed, I doubt if I got an 1/8 of a turn before my torque wrench clicked at 65in/lb. I had a dial indicator set up to check for stress as I torqued it & the needle never moved. I think I'll try shooting mine before I worry about bedding it.
