what cartridges can be formed reasonably easily from .25-06 brass

I have a ton of .25-06 brass. was thinking of getting a barrel chambered in .25-06AI etc. what others are possible? I don't want to invest a ton into dies. 6mm-06 sounds like a good one too although lately i'm keen on smaller rounds to reduce powder usage. I already have a standard .25-06. thanks

What are thinking about doing with it? Target, big game, varminting? Thats what ya kinda need to decide on first.
25-06AI would put you near the 257wby
6.5-06 would be a good one. (Actually Im thinking of building one)
6mm-06(240wby realm) as you already mentioned is a hot rod and if you went with an 8 twist you could shoot heavies good and it would make a dandy whitetail cart.
22-06(This would be a Dean recommendation lol).
This is just me but I would lean toward the 6.5-06. You get 6.5mm ballistics(ie..really good) in the 6.5-284 range. Would be a dandy deer rifle and could go for elk also.

Oh ok gotcha. The ones I mentioned are pretty hot rounds so I'm not sure how much target shooting you'd wanna do with them.

I wanted to save powder and have something different, so I went with the 6.5 Grendel. Building a Sweed and having a 25/06 already covers a lot of territory. All of the chamberings mentioned are very interesting, but adding any of them will cost You more in powder and dies, just to use up some extra 25/06 cases. "Not that there's anything wrong with that :-))".

I don't have an opportunity to shoot over 300yds, so all My long action chamberings are over kill. Those barrels stay pretty much in the corner of the closet these days. A lot depends on what kind of shooting You intend to do.

I have struggled with Your decision many times, and lack of need and cost of dies has caused Me to live with what I have, which is already way more than I need.

The round I had was called the 243 Super Rock Chucker, which was basically a 6mm-06AI. Although it was a 1:10 twist it would shoot 105 Amax at 3500fps but it was a laser with 75gr hornady hollow points at just under 3900fps, it would blow up 58gr bullets if I pushed them faster than 4475fps.

My brother shot a doe antelope at 445 yards with it with the 75s and a absolutely flattened it. If I had another one built I would use a 1:8 twist and not mess with light weight stuff just shoot 105gr + bullets and have a really antelope hammer. I did kill one doe antelope with it shooting 105 amax at fairly close range and laid her down after about three steps.

I'm confused I guess. If you look in your loading books and read about the cartridges, you know that the 30-06 is the original parent, right? So easily is anything else based upon the 30-06.
6-06, 25-06, 6.5-06, 270, 280, 30-06, 8-06, 338-06, 35 Whelen. Just gotta read your books, it's all in there.

Right but going to a 338-06 from a 25-06 is several more steps than going from a 25-06 to a 6-06.

Only if you use crappy lube. For years I used to resize a brothers 338WM down for my 264WM. Always did it in one step with my Lee FL dies.

Down is easier than up. If you were going from 264 to 338 in one step you would probably not have a great success rate.
