They told me 16 weeks and it ended up being 20. At the NRA show they were saying 20-26 weeks.

Maybe this is just my opinion but I often wonder what people expect when ordering custom parts. I get the feeling that a lot of people that deal with Savages think they are dealing with McSavage, and want there order as soon as they pull up to the window. The 1911 and benchrest crowd are the complete opposite, if they don't get something for a year or two they are fine.

82boy, Speaking for me and me alone, I only expect what I am told. If they tell you 16 weeks, they should be able to deliver in 16 weeks. Otherwise they should tell you 20 weeks and surprise you when it comes in 18. If I want some thing and they tell me 1 year, fine, but make sure it isn't 1 year and 2 months!!! Or like mopar says below, just let me know what is going on if it is late. Don't leave me haning man!!!

I was also quoted 16 weeks, at week 17 I emailed to see what was up, was told another 8 weeks will see it at the post office. If it arrives when the updated quote states, it will be here around week 28.

So i'd expect to wait a bit longer than the 16 weeks quoted.

I was told 16 and thats fine I was just curious because it's my first barrel order but if I'm told a certain date I always expect it to be that date unless told otherwise. Nothing bothers me more in life that being told some thing/service will be provided by a certain date and then it doesn't happen. Well I guess I still have time to decide on a stock.

A couple years ago, I ordered a .45 barrel for my 10MLII from PacNor. It took a few weeks longer
than their original estimate because of a tool they had ordered to thread for the breech plug
from one of their suppliers had not been delivered to them.

They let me know what was going on and very apologetic, even though it was not their fault.
Their supplier had let them down. They finally gave up on him and used their old tooling, which
turned out fine. When the barrel arrived, included was another apology and a coupon to
expedite the production and delivery of any barrel ordered by me in the future.

I can respect a company like that.

The only shilen I have ordered was already complete from Jim. All of the other barrels I have are Douglas. 3 weeks on all of them max and that included a bluing on the side from one of the machinists. I've never had one shoot funny on me. Then again, I've never had a bad barrel from any of the aftermarket guys.

Hope it gets here soon. If you're like me, the wait time kills.

WOW! 20 weeks, thats no fun. I ordered a Shilen back in June from a local gun shop and got it 3 weeks later. It was a 300mag 1" OD. Maybe it is just the time of year that causes such a wait. McMilian on the other hand has had my money for about 4 months now and still no stock lol. I'm hoping to get it by Christmas lol, maybe Santa will put it under the tree for me lol. I just ordered a 11fcxp3 in 243, has anyone shot one of these? (i know the scope is going to be lack luster lol)
