There are youth version of the Savage 11 TH XP in several calibers, including 243. They have a 20" sporter barrel instead of 22". If you already have a Savage barreled action in 243, you could also get a Boyd's stock customized to the desired LOP with a good 1" recoil pad installed. The extra weight would help tame recoil.

Boyd's is the most affordable, fast shipping and good enough the way it ships. But I installed pillars and glassed one to make sure all is good.

Problem nowadays is that the Newer mod 11 TH xp don't have a bottom metal and take Axis type magazines, and I'm not sure the Boyd's laminate will work with out getting a bottom metal, trigger guard and oldschool magazine.

^^^^You can get plastic bottom metal that will work with the boyds stock and the Axis mag. Savage customer service has them for about $15

The Axis-style magazines with plastic bottom cap can be used in Savage factory wood and aftermarket stocks (ex. Boyds) if you purchase the DBM plastic frame assembly (surround) direct from Savage. The plastic frame assembly is what is used on Savage 11 LWH models with the Axis-style DBM to reduce weight. The plastic trigger guards are very cheap, allow the rear action screw to flex and usually crack with too much torque. Need to replace with a metal trigger guard in my experience. Especially if you go with the less expensive plastic frame assembly and Axis-style plastic bottom cap.
