HI guys I just picked up a 6.5x284 in a model 111 trophy hunter and I'm gonna reload for it was wondering if yall could give me some help on where to start I'm gonna be using it for whitetail deer I have a bunch of hornady 129 sst what powder do yall prefer and what grains should I start at any info would be greatly appreciated

Take a look at hodgdon's, aliants, noslers or most other powder companies websites they have load data. They may not have the exact bullet combination that you are using, but it will get you in the ballpark of the charge weight and powder. Just remember to start low and work up. Lee dies usually come with load data for what ever caliber you are using.

I'm shooting a heavier match bullet than you're looking for OP. But I'm having great success with 139 gr Lapua Scenars, H4831sc, Fed match primers in Lapua brass. I agree with starting off low and working up. There's loads posted on the interwebs that I can't get near with my barrel and my chamber. Each rifle is it's own individual for load development.

i know that the OP is not shoot the same bullets but I shot 140 vld Hunters with H4831sc with CCI LR and Lapua brass. I have taking a 175 Lb whitetail at 300 yards and it worked great and they shoot very well. 2891 fps is my average with my load.
