Hey new to this deal.... Being hunting with a 99f 308 cal in beautiful shape, made in 1957...... passed down to me by my grandfather. That being said ,I had an uncle drop off an 1899 savage to me over Christmas that was also my grandfathers. Best gift I have ever received..... wondering what exactly it is. Its 303 takedown with a 25-35 barrel, of course with the tang crack, other than that ,decent shape for year. serial #129xxx . 20 inch barrel, but no saddle ring, so I'm thinking its an 1899h, any thoughts? It does not have the crescent butt stock.

Sounds like an 1899H, featherweight. If it has a straight grip and round barrel, that's it. Made from 1905-1919. Yours would have been made in 1912. I'm not sure if the .25-35 barrel will work with that gun. Each magazine rotor is specific to the chambering. The .303 case diameter is larger than the .25-35 by .020". But if it actually works, a switch barrel 1899H, very cool!
BTW GREAT Christmas gift. I have rifle in both chamberings and they are excellent guns!!

Pics please if you can!!
