I need a one piece base/scope mount for a 4.522" screw spacing short action.

I assume that regardless of the action screw spacing, that what I should be after is a flat rear, staggered feed, short action base?

Can anyone else confirm this?

I've got a 110 in 243 from 1958 that came with a one-piece Redfield mount. It measured to about 5.3125 (5 5/16") on my 110 SA. I believe a SA flat back mount should be good to go even on the early ones.

Found under FAQ section http://www.savageshooters.com/content.php?128-Savage-Action-Lengths, I'm guessing that is correct. The over all length of the action did not change.

******LOOKED A LITTLE CLOSER, the action length did change, so now I'm not sure!*******

IIRC the 1st Gen short actions had a unique base length and to my knowledge nobody's made a 1-pc base for them in a long time. Most guys just use a 2-pc base system for a 110 long action as those will work just fine.

Frank Green at Bartlein Barrels came up with an alternative solution a few years back, but it requires some machining to work.

I had one. Bought the base this past year from midway. I'll look up my order and report back with details.

I take that back. It came from Numerich. I see that they no longer show the item???

Looks like a 2 piece is probably the most cost effective way to proceed.
