hey guy and girls just wanted to give Mike at savage service a big thank you . I called today cause I have been waiting weeks for them to fix the store on their website to no avail . I told him that I just bought a model 11 trophy hunter xp 308 left handed . he was super helpful I told him I want to convert to all metal bottom and had me all set in like 5 mins. he said it should be here in 7 to 10 days. I just thought I would share my experience with you all.

good to know, is your model 11 a bottom bolt release? I have one in 243 but was told I couldn't change out bottom metal because of bottom bolt release, I did change my mod 10 fcp-sr out to accurate mag and it works fine. Please let me know Thanks

I see the newer mod 11's have no bottom metal and their "axis" type magazine clips into the plastic of the stock. To convert it you would need a different stock that's made for a bottom metal and bottom bolt release if it has it at the bottom.

Yes u can with bottom bolt release. They make the same set up in metal for the 110 and other models .i just told him I had the trophy xp short action and he just crossed the parts to the medal part that are the same just metal . For the mag u just get the bottom cap and convert the axis style mag. Cost like 145. With shipping for everything

Are you planning on putting your bottom metal in a new stock? I just bought a 6.5 Creedmoor TH XP and wanted to change the stock and bottom metal out

Eventually but for right now I might try to set it in the original stock

OP: would you be so kind as to list the part numbers you ordered?

I'm thinking about swapping out the synthetic bottom on my 11vt to metal also.

Several years ago Savage started molding the plastic DBM frame assembly (surround) into the cheaper synthetic stocks used on several models. These stocks all use the plastic Axis style magazine bottom cap with latch tab. You can switch the plastic BBR trigger guard to the metal BBR trigger guard. However the metal DBM frame assembly and metal magazine cap will not fit into the newer Savage synthetic stocks (ex. Trophy Hunter, Savage 16 LWH). You need a wood or synthetic stock with the full size Savage DBM inlet (ex. Accustock, Boyds) to convert to a metal DBM frame assembly and bottom cap.

I seriously doubt it.

but you can get a stock from Boyds for about $150.

^^^^ Best bet is to post an ad in the classifieds. There is a $15 per year fee for the privilege, but it's well worth it.

Soliciting offers for buy/trade outside the classifieds is prohibited, BTW.
