I picked up a new Savage 10T from Cabelas in the 6.5 creedmoor, i would like to start this topic on accurate pet loads, i am always looking, this gun after cleaning after every round for 10 shots, then a few more of the factory Hornady 129gr white tail ammo, i purchased a few boxes of this stuff for the brass, so i load up 3 different (5 shot) loads and off to the range

1st load 130gr Berger VLD target 38Varget oal of 2.800 a nice round cluster of 3/4" @ 100yds

2nd load 140 Berger VLD target 40.9 H4350 oal of 2.800 maybe 5/8" @ 100yds

3rd load 140 Amax 40.9 H 4350 oal 2.810 4 shots under 3/8" other out a bit, maybe 1/2 "

using a 6x24 scope, so far this gun is accurate, whether this caliber is inherently accurate or maybe a nice barrel, with only 35 shots down the tube it is showing that i will not be going thru hundreds of rnds load testing. i see the 140 Amax are discontinued, i still see there are some around, but according to Harnady the 140ELD match is the same bullet with a different polymer tip and a better BC. I am running low on H 4350 and very hard to find, maybe try some R17 and hope i can do better with varget.

My 10T has done well with the factory 143 ELD-X loads from hornady, so my best reload just mimics it. 2.8" coal, pushing it about 2715 fps. I use superformance powder, but I think multiple other powders could push at this speed and not have too much of an issue. It's not a very hot load.

No the 140 ELD is not just an AMAX with a different tip but you can use the AMAX data with it. The 140 ELD has a new tip and some design changes over the AMAX to give it a better BC. I load 43grns of H4350 with the 140 ELD to give me 2850fps from my 27" Creedmoor. I load them at .020 off the lands.

If you need another powder that will work like H4350 then look at IMR4451.

I am also working on the 147 ELD now and have gotten up to 43grns of H4350 and it gives me 2825fps. Accuracy is just under 1/2 MOA.
