Was able to take down two does in Missouri during rifle season with a new combination of rifle and bullet. Previously I had used a ruger 30-06 with 180 grain, partially because in years past my shooting skills had been suspect. Over the past two years some friends have pulled me forward into longer range shooting as a hobby.

That being said, I purchased a Savage 10T and did some load work ups trying to mirror the Hornady 143 ELD-X factory rounds that shot lights out. My round runs between 2700-2710 fps with Superformance powder at 2.8" OAL.

I was able to get a shot across a bean field on the first one at 450 yards. Dope held true, and shot went through heart and lungs, and partially hit back shoulder. Exit wound at hide appeared to be 3/4", but after I opened her up the hole through the ribs on exit was actually more like 1" or 1-1/4". Doe ran 20 yards and collapsed. Picture of exit is below. Second doe was taken at 125 yards, straight ahead. No exit, but it tore a pretty rugged through vitals. Ran 10 yards.
