This is about a left hand savage action with a short barrel, aka Striker pistol. I have one of the oddities with a really good trigger, maybe the former owner worked it over?

Changed it from .243 to .221fb and have an interest in 6 X 45 or 6 X 47, the recoil and muzzle jump/noise was too much for me in .243. There was a member here that used .204 brass to load for 6 X 47 rifles he and his wife shot in 100-200yrd competition. Either looks to be a tame round for the Striker and plenty of brass and bullet selections.

Interested to hear comments about loading and shooting these two. Now I'm on the lookout for a light to medium taper barrel to cut down.

I don't have much experience in the 6mm game...yet. The 6x45 is based on the 223 remington necked up 6mm. The 6x47 is based on the 6.5x47 lapua necked down to 6mm. The 6x47 is going to have much more power than the 6x45. I would place the 6x47 close in power to the 243 winchester cartridge.

The 6 X 47 I meant is a .204 or .222 mag case.

I have two 6x45 AR uppers and both shoot well under MOA to 200 yds and they will kill deer quickly with 85 gr HPBT. I like them enough I'm seriously thinking of re-barreling a perfectly fine CZ 527 into a 6x45 and BTW...brass is free too.

Maybe not much help but I have the 6.5x47 lapua and it is awesome. It's as close to the perfect short action cartridge there is. Once lapua starts making brass for the creedmoor and if they do small primer pockets then it will also be awesome.

I probably wouldn't ever neck up a 223 to 6mm but I would love to have a 6mm lapua. The 47 will have a much better case design. The only advantage to the 45 I see is cheap brass available. Really not an advantage to me as I'd want the lapua 223 brass anyway.

Redman you're talking about a completely different cartridge than the OP is asking about the 6 x 47 is not derived from the 6.5 x 47 Lapua case which is necked down to make the 6-6.5x47 Lapua round you're referring to.
