I noticed the local Cabela's had a Savage Ashbury in 308 today. I was not aware Savage made these. Does anybody have one of these? Any comparisons or knowledge would be appreciated. It was priced at $1699 Thanks

$1699. Ouch. Did you get a chance to handle it? Am curious if the action is trued like the stealth.

I did handle it. Felt smooth. There are a few articles on them I am reading about them. Yes, higher priced than the RPR, but I continue to read bad news on the RPR. I am sure there are many RPR's that shoot well, as we usually only hear stories of upset shooters and not all positive. Some are having to make changes and upgrades to get them to get them to shoot well. I would rather buy a Savage than the RPR personally. Although I have heard the Savage Stealth was a train wreck with the wrong barrels installed on them. LOL

Sucks savage let those stealths out the door without much QC. At least they admitted it and took care of everybody. Been looking at the 338 stealth but will hold off until shot show to see what comes out. With trump going to be running the White House, nobody should be holding back there wares. Would be nice if I could buy a stealth action and barrel only and let me put it in a chassis myself.

Paid $970 for it at Bud's Gun Shop in 2017.
Heavy gun - especially with accessories (tripod, scope, etc.)
I wouldn't use it for hunting - it's heavy and you need to boresight it every time you take it out of the case.
Accurate gun - shoots as accurately as Savage says it does.
Happy with it - but the practically of it makes it a "range gun".
Have shot it at 1/4 mile with 1 inch groupings.
Haven't tried one mile yet.
They say the stock is a "piece of crap" but I don't have any problem with it.
