i recently bought an older model 11 lefty in 243. i bought a new 26" tapered brux barrel in 6.5. i had a gunsmith install the barrel and do the necessary bolt changes. its chambered in 6.5x300 wsm with a short throat. i installed a new magazine, a new sharpshooter trigger, and bedded and refinished the original stock myself. when the magazine is out of the gun on a bench i can get it to hold rounds just fine. however when i install it and put it in the stock it wont accept them. the lips of the magazine are too close to allow them to fit in. where did i go wrong? thanks for any help.

you did not take into account the clip is forced back int original shape when in the mag well. you are going to have to rework the lips to let the fatter WSM rounds in. wither that be bend or grind on then. start with bending. the new mag is for what cal?

thanks for that. the new magazine is a 300wsm. i thought that was the problem, as the action was originaly for a 308 size case. however i didnt want to modify the new one untill i knew for sure. im also concerned that if i grind away
some off the lips, will it hold cases. i suppose ill find out. worst thing can happen is another magazine cost.
all in all the guns working out fine. initial load testing looks good.
