Hey Guys,
I bought a couple of the 12FV 308's Cabalas had on sale and switched the barrel on one to a 6.5 Creedmoor, shoots great.
I was wondering what I would need to do or if it possible to turn the other one into a reliable 7mm WSM.
Thanks in advandce for any advice.

It would be a change of magazines, barrel and the bolt head. I know it has been done but the forum has been informed by the Savage Master AKA sharpshooter, that issues with extraction can manifest when a small shank barrel is chambered for a wsm.

Is that the reason Savage quit making them?
So do the 270 and 300 wsm's that Savage is still producing come with a large shank barrel?
Could you open up a small shank receiver to except a large shank barrel without compromising safety ? I'm assuming Savage does it.
I know a lot of guys would just buy another gun, but I like to tinker.
edit; just read FAQ's and found out all wsm's come with large shank. But why no 7mm wsm?

I also have a Stealth in 6.5 Creed. I do believe it has a large shank, am I correct?
If so then I will start searching for a new barrel!
