Hello all,

I received a Long Range BR stock recently (6 month wait). The quality is good.

Do I need to glass bed (or similar) to get a good fit with my Model 12 LRPV ? Now the stock does not fit properly. The center factory action screw is too long.

Has anyone been able to drop in the action and get a good fit without bedding ?

SSS phone is always busy and they did not respond yet to my email I sent Tuesday (text below)

Thanks

Hello SSS,

I received a LRBR stock a few weeks ago from your fine company.

"I am very happy with the quality. I have finished with Tru-Oil.

I dropped the Model 12 RBLP action in the stock and notice some of the action screws extend too far into the action. The bolt binds.

Do I need to glass bed the action into the stock or is it supposed to fit with no further modifications?

If I had shorter action screws them all would be OK I guess.

Your suggestions please"

Make sure the screws are not reversed first. Then if need be file or grind the screws down a couple of threads and all should be well.Almost all laminate stocks use a different length screw than the factory stock uses, not really suprising nor hard to fix.
As for bedding that is a personal preference to begin with, try it out and if you feel accuracy can or should be better bed it.

Thanks for the help.

I will order some replacement screws from Savage and file to size.
