so here on Savage forum they say these guns shoot great out of the box, And I must say they do!! My 308 vt shoots under an inch at 160 yards with 150 Winchesters.
so that would be about 2 inches at 320, yards. For a hunting gun you can't ask for better. would try 168 match ammo but why.

Frankly that is not bad for a casual target gun. 1/2 MOA would be a bit under 2.5 inches at 300.

Sometimes they like the oddest ammo.

I would buy what they have as batch could change.

just for grins, try a box of Federal Gold Medal Match and tell us the results

Are you talking about the 150gr Win. PP grey box ? if so, then that's darn good.

Most accurate 308win factory hunting ammo I came across was Federal Premium 165gr Sierra BTSP. It consistently shot 1/2moa or less at 330 yards.

Personally for those short distances, there is no reason to move to a boattail type bullet.

I had a .308 that would barely get MOA with it, but loved 180gr Rem Core-Lokt to the tune of 1/2 MOA. Sometimes guns are funny like that.

Doubling the distance and expecting the same MOA is highly unlikely.
