I have a 1941 Model 99 in 300 Savage.
I have re-oiled the stocks and waxed them and they are "good enough" but I am still thinking of replacing them with new ones.
I have found a rear stock at Boyd's, but not the forward stock. They have them for take downs and spring clips but not the style I have (schnabel).
Can't figure out why Boyd's offers one but not the other.

Is there a source?

I have not personally used these; but they look interesting:

A thought... this summer I purchased a model 1899 with serial number date to 1908. Excited to purchase a piece of history... rifling in great shape and metal no rust just expected wear... the sock was OK but had a bunch of nicks and dings and two small pieces (1/2"-1") slivered and missing. I brought it to a local gun restorer... Sycamore Hill Designs (I am in Upstate NY). they cleaned and checked and tested the gun for me but most importantly I had them restore the 'furniture' on the gun.

I could not have been more please as this turned out fabulous... they replace the broken and chipped pieces and the the gun stock looks like factory. Sorry I am not at home right now to send pictures to you. So unless your stock is un-repairable perhaps looking into someone to restore for you may be an option...you may have good local gunsmiths who can do the restoration... just a thought! Whatever you decide...good luck.

The Gun Stock Inc units look like the closest to what I had in mind.
Thanks for the pointer.

Anyone tried one of these (http://www.gunstocksinc.com/web_pages/Plate-pics/Stevens-stocks/Savage%2099-forends.htm)?

I just filled out the "Product Request Form" at Boyds for a forend to go along with the buttstock(s) they offer.
Maybe it will yield something

I used Gun Stock Inc. for several laminated and walnut stock sets for TC Encore rifles and pistol builds before I discovered Savage rifles. They are good to go. However, semi-finished means bare wood, no checkering, some final fitting, sanding, and wood finishing work is needed. I would purchase as a utility stock set for field use. Then have original furniture restored to mint condition for the showcase.

I like to do my own finishing and sanding but I got some stocks for a Cowboy Marlin once that were WAY over sized and I never finished them.
