Having trouble with a friends model 12 BVSS in 22-250. This gun has not been fired in over a year. Took it to the range this weekend, gave it a good cleaning and started firing at 100 yds for groups. First three shots were in one hole, the fourth shot didn't hit the paper. Repeated this several times with some shots hitting dead on point of aim and some not even on target. Checked the crown and found no problems. We were not sure about the optics on the gun so he went to town and bought a new Nikon. Mounted the new scope and boresighted. First shot 5" high 6" left. Adjusted scope, second shot dead on point of aim. Then started shooting groups again with the same results. Scope mounts are solid. Action screws are solid - no movement. Barrel is fully free floated. Bolt lugs are tight, can't find any serious wear issues anywhere.

Rifle has approximately 1500 rounds through it.
1 in 9" twist on barrel.
Load is 40gr H380 magnum primer 55 gr sierra BK.

We tried different ammo with the same results. Tried his ammo in my gun with no problems.
Any idea as to what could cause this??

Possibly a build of of hard carbon fouling in the barrel. It's damaging some bullets on the way down the tube.

Will find out if that is the problem today, going to local gunsmith to use a borescope on it.
