i just bought a savage 62 and since the bolt doesn't hold back on the last round will it hurt to dry fire from time to time? i will count most times but will miss count every now and then. so anyone else dry fire from time to time? if so has it hurt anything? thanks

yes and no. is it a match barrel? if yes it will hurt. if not, drop the hammer on it. it wil take 1000s of dry fires to hurt it!!

If your dry fire a rim fire all the time you will start to see deforming on the firing pin but if you do it every now and again it will take a while for you to see a problem. I had a Jimenez .22lr pistol and it wold never lock back after putting well over 2,000 rounds I did start to see a problem with the pin because I wold never count and dry fire every time. But it was a POS gun that jammed a lot so I sold it for $50.00
