Nothin' like a heavy SS barrel in a 20 Practical....

Pac Nor built my tube.....12 twist/3 groove

40s work much better than 32s for me....3900 fps w/moly 40 V's

The gun is .204 now just wanna upgrade to stainless and maybe change twist. It's 1:12 now shots 32gr pretty good but the 40's not very good. Maybe shorten it up its 26" now maybe 24,22? Just lookin for advice or thoughts as to what will work well. Im invested in brass and dies and like the caliber mostly shoot fox and coyotes with it. Any thoughts will be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I bought a Shilen from northlander and it shoots ragged holes over and over and over. Took it out to south Dakota and once every thing was dialed in made 400 - 600 yards shots consistently all day long.

I couldn't stand it... All the fuss about the 204R and I didn't have one but found a abused .223 Savage 110 on a long action. It was in need of a new barrel, so I thought why not?
The 20 Practical caught my attention, many of the are based on "black rifle" actions are impressive. After talking with my local gunsmith we decided on a Douglas XX Stainless, 1/12 twist, #3 contour with Duramaxx stock. It is all here. The barrel is fitted and it is ready to go except for the stock, some minor fitting and I will be punching holes in ??
Forming cases are a snap, starting with Fedral cases, standard small rifle Fedral, Varmint Nightmare 32 grain, and H4198 powder.
My gunsmith says that for the money that the Douglas is the best value for THIS gun and my application (varmints).
I only wish I had action polished or bead blasted and blued before I put the barrel on. Will it shoot better, probably not but it would be purrty.
