I just finished a rifle I put together for dear old Mom.
I had a brand new Axis in 7mm08 youth mod. The cheapest one they make. I did the trigger on it put it in a boyds thumbhole that I sanded to fit her small hands and fit everything to her. Put some tally rings and a vortex on top. Well with 120 Nosler ballistic tips with a good charge of IMR 4350 she is keeping them inside 3/4" at 150 yards. Not bad at all for a 70 year old lady..
The Axis rifles have proven 100% for me every one has been MOA or better much better too! Great Job Savage.. The only other rifles I've had that kind of luck with have been the T/C venture and the Tikka. With the T/C being a bit better. But twice as much money. You just have to love a 300$ rifle that shoots dime size groups at 150.

Not bad for any gender at any age. Give her a high five for me.

Lol will do. I've always been very proud of my mom. She is one tuff gal. She has always hunted with me and when I was a kid she made sure I was able to hunt and fish. She made sure I understood ethics and never waste anything. So when she told me she really wanted a rifle that had one of those pretty stocks (boyds) I knew exactly what Rifle I was going to put together for her. I hope she has many years shooting it. She was able to shoot 18 shots before she was starting to feel it. That really good for full power hunting loads. Its a sweet little package. I can't get over how good they shoot. Just 25 years ago that kind of accuracy would cost a months pay.

Kudos to you for taking care of Mom!! Sounds like a great woman shooting a nice cartridge.
