i have 2 savage varmint rifles in 223 one a model 12fv from cabela's and the other a model 12bvss, when the bvss is dry fired the bolt does not move, yet on the 12fv from cabrela's the bolts jumps i figured the cocking pc was bottoming out the the bolt body, but upon checking them out there is clearance between the body and pin when in the fired mode

I need a little more help on WHAT is "jumping"?
It is not unusual to see the bolt handle move slightly when dry firing. Is that what you are talking about?

It is a timing issue. Nothing dangerous.

The bolt handle jump is caused by axial wind up, causing the bolt to rest off center upon closing. This only happens on an empty chamber, because it does not have a cartridge to center on. It's nothing to worry about....
