My old Savage 110 flat-back with a NSS recoil lug and barrel nut, EGW scope base, and McMillan HTG stock. I'll see how it shoots with the factory barrel, but future plans are to re-barrel in 308 with a Rock 5R varmint barrel. It will be a switch-barrel gun. I have a magnum bolt head and will have another barrel in 300WM

I routed the factory bedding and laid down a good layer of Marine Tex last night. I got it all trimmed and cleaned up. Here's the process for anyone who's interested...

**NOTE** For anyone who wants to duplicate this, make sure you free-float the heel.

I used a knife and razor to trim. A couple of small chunks came off when I was scraping. If I used a Dremel, it would have been flawless...

Nice job but I have a question.
You said for a switch barrel so how are you going to get the barrel nut to line up with the bedding you applied there.
My suggestion take your Dremel and grind out everything in front of recoil lug. It isn't needed there any way.

Thanks!

I grounded off the high spots on the barrel nut after I snapped the picture.

More progress...

I had a friend mill off the first two rail sections from my EGW mount. This will allow my Zeiss to be set back to give me perfect eye relief.

http://i292.photobucket.com/albums/mm9/tonyben1/IMG_0045_zps2f27mkvb.jpg (http://s292.photobucket.com/user/tonyben1/media/IMG_0045_zps2f27mkvb.jpg.html)

I also bedded the scope base. The back of the scope mount had a 0.010" gap over the flat of the receiver.

It was still a little soft this morning, so I threw the base in the toaster oven to speed cure it for 30 minutes at 150˚. Worked great!

Next step is scope mounting, leveling and set fire!
