Normally I am limited to shooting paper at 200 yards; but recently at the end of a hog hunting trip I had the opportunity to shoot a little farther. I set up a homemade 10 inch metal target at an unknown distance and did the calculations. The target ended up being right at 450 yards. Hit the 10" plate four times before it fell down, then went for a closer look. The group size was about 1.5 inches; shot from the prone position with a bipod in front and a bag in rear. I'd really like to take it even farther; I'm shooting 168gr AMAX handloads at 2700 fps.

The target was not on those yellow pipes during shooting I just hung it there for the picture.

That plate won't take much more of that!

If you are doing load development I think I would quit now.. Nice shooting, you've got that gun and load figured out.

Got to agree with sharpshooter on this. Good shooting but get a heavier plate.

Thanks for the feedback. I'm arranging to get some AR500 steel for my new target. Think I'll stick with that load for the 168gr bullets.

Excellent. In my experience 2700fps give or take a few has been the sweet spot on my 308,s in 168smk and 175SMK
