First trip to the range with my new Mark ii BTV this morning. Got there and bore sighted at distance. When I started shooting I was barely hitting the top of the target. Needless to say that was a bit of a shock. Then I remembered reading that the action screws should be torqued to 15 in lb's and I had them snugged pretty tight.
I backed them out a bit and tried again, next shots dropped right down to the bulls eye, so like I said I'm a believer.

Don't have an in lb torque wrench, but I got lucky and Midway had the Wheeler gunsmithing torque wrench on sale so I ordered it.

I've always had good luck with having the front about 10-15 in lb more than the rear. Usually I end up around 23-28 in the front and 14-18 in the rear.

To give yourself an idea if it's a little over tight, hold your finger up under the barrel at the end of the stock as you loosen the front action bolt, if you feel it spring back as you loosen it, chances are one of them is to tight.
