Saw a utube vid where an Axis was custom stocked and the factory recoil lug was replaced with the traditional barrel mounted lug, can't find it again. Anyone done this or know anything about it?

thanks, Brian

I think I may have seen the same YouTube video. I know that the guy just slapped on a recoil lug from a Savage 110, and shot it like that. So, that action would have had the slot open in the bottom without the axis lug.

He said on another action that he turned the action down so that he eliminated the slot in the action where are the axis lug fit. He then put the 110 lug on the barrel.

My recollection was that he was getting the same crazy accuracy out of both guns.

You have to machine the front of the action to use a standard 110 lug with a standard Axis stock. If you don't the lug won't line up with the slot for it in the stock.

If you do this can u use the 110 stocks then is that the major difference?

^^^ No, you can not. Axis and 10/110 are not similar in any way stock-wise.
