There is a reason a vast majority of the shooters use the longer barrels in PRS whether you want to see it or not. Maybe you should go and tell them they are all doing it wrong. I know you like long drawn out arguments. So post what you like. I have posted all I need to on the subject.

OP, again, I have given you my recommendation from shooting the sport for a long time. Look at what the shooters use and choose accordingly. They are chosen for a reason.

I've been shooting these kind of matches for 2 years now myself. I wouldn't limit myself by going against a trend that has held true. Not only to you get better ballistics, but the rifle also balances better and the weight is a benefit when you require additional stability in an unpracticed position.

I started out shooting a Savage LRP in 6.5 using dark eagle mags, now I'd suggest the stealth to start out. That rifle then went into a Mcree chassis, I've bought three of them used so far, two for me and one for a friend. They're very adjustable and work well, not as pretty or light as some but they work well if you like a chassis. I'm looking to move back to a more traditional stock as just picked up a manners T5A.

26 in 8 twist barrels are what I've shot, three of them so far, factory ammo with ELD's or Prime ammo shooting 130's if you don't reload. It's getting easier to find 4350 these days and ELD's are cheaper and more plentiful than most others.

Newsshooter, are you still using the dark eagle mags? I've thinking about buying some to run myself.

I"m not, I've changed to a chassis and I'm now using AI type mags. I was thinking I should sell the pair that I have in the safe.
