Aluma-Hyde Camo Paint job video "how to"

This is the first part of a series of videos, not sure how many it will take yet. On this video I just go over supplies needed and basic before view of rifle.

Here I pick back up after I have gone over the entire rifle and removed all of the oil residue and applied tape to block out everything that doesnt need paint.

NOTE: Digital camo looks pretty darn cool and certainly has its place where it would be the go to pattern. I think a vegetation style pattern would typically blend better in the woods where I live. So I thought I would wing it.

On the Rem 700 actions I painted the bolt handle. On my savages I choose not to put any pain on them. It has to do with the difference in cocking. There just isnt any convenient place to stop the paint on the savage and stay out of the cocking ramp. There is some goof ups in the application video so its a good lesson in being prepared and not paying attention.


Side note: entire project took about 2 hours.

And finally the paint. After it dries completely Ill post a pic with all the tape off. Hope this helps someone either way it pushed me to get this project done.

Final pic. Now into the safe to harden. You have to be very careful peeling the tape off because the paint is nowhere near hardened yet. You can easily pull some paint loose. You can wait till its hardened then peel it off. I am not a good waiter. You can use a brush and fix any place that peels. Got lucky.

What I like about it, is the toughness of the paint after it hardens. It can be pull, peeled and scraped off easily in the first couple of days. But remarkably after 2 weeks it hardens up and , I cant say its impossible, you would have a tough time scraping it with a knife.
