Hey guys, got my 1st axis together, nothing fancy just a 243 barrel picked up off the classifieds. Gonna use it as a hunting rifle this season. Anyway, typical trigger....lousy...clipped the spring, still not good blah blah lol.
Anyway...to the point. I've had good luck with thE RB sav1 in several of my 110s. I picked up one because it's supposed to work with the axis too. I'm not so sure...unless Im missing something. Just wondering what kinda experience you all have had changing these out?
Here's a couple pics I snapped for comparison
Here they are side by side:

Standard trigger sitting in there:

The adjustments are in completely different places, not sure how this is supposed to fit....any ideas?
Thanks guys!

It didn't come with an installation video like the SAV-2's??

Nope, just paper instructions. All of my sav1 have been like that. They're (normally lol) way easier to install than the sav2.

As long as the safety screw is in the same position, which it appears to be to me, it should be alright. I've never heard anyone having trouble with them.

where is your spring?

I've got my spring just don't have it in the pic.
Foxx, the safety is completely different on the axis, compared to the 110s. The axis moves across a spring as opposed to.the 110s going across the metal tab.
I maybe missing something completely so this could very well be on me, I'm just not sure. I'll take a couple more pics tomorrow for comparison.
Thanks guys!

But the safety screw is protruding up thru the trigger in the same spot as it does with the factory Axis trigger. It will need to be screwed deeper or longer than it currently is so that the safety slide will move back and forth and, when on "safe" the screw will prevent the trigger from being pulled if it is set so it's just off or barely touching the safety slide. Looking at your current pics, the screw needs to be turned much deeper into the trigger, just like it does on the factory trigger. It will work. Just go ahead and install it.

Thanks foxx, I'll take a look at when I get home from work. I see what you're talking about on the safety screw. I don't have my pull weight spring in the pic but it goes in front (toward the muzzle), I'm curious as to what it will press against. There's normally an indention in the metal for a spring to sit. There's one on this action but it's where the spring is in the factory trigger. My new spring won't go there.

I may have the screws mixed up... one is for safety, the other is for adjusting for over travel. Not having actually put one on an axis, my GUESS is the longer screw is for the over travel, and should be towards the back. The short one is for the safety and should be towards the front. The spring doesn't really need a recess to sit against other than the socket/hole in the trigger that it sits in.

I think I have one of these already installed on an Axis I have laying around I'll take a pic when I get home tonight

Here's a pic of the new trigger installed, it's not the greatest pic but hopefully you can see it ok

I tested it and thus far it seems ok. Safety works good, no misfiring thus far. Foxx, I did have to run the safety screw and overtravel screw in way farther. Past the factory loctite actually but I put some more in there to remedy that.
The trigger pull weight spring is actually resting against the safety switch, which seems a little odd to me. I guess that what's got me puzzled. Wouldn't seem to me that you'd want the pull weight spring resting on moving part like a safety switch.
Let me know what ya think...
Thanks guys

Looks like I expected. But, yes, that's kinda weird to put trigger return spring against the slide. It saved them from making a different version for the Axis, I guess.
Follows my motto, "As long as it works and shoots straight..."

Ok, thanks foxx, I appreciate it. But, it definitely doesnt seem "right" lol. So far, it seems safe and functions normal....way better than the factory one. I had to hook my 4 wheeler winch to it shoot it before....well not exactly but you get the point 😉.
I'll get to shoot it Friday, so I'll know for sure then.
Thanks again for the help!

When I installed mine I adjusted the trigger pull spring then cycled the bolt vigorously to ensure yo don't get a misfire. I had to set it at about 1.5lbs before I was confident in it. Any lighter and if you cycled the bolt to fast it would misfire. Love it now that it's setup!

You better get it together or next thing you know you'll be shooting without you earmuffs. :)

It doesn't look right because it ain't right. The spring should be on the end. What you are using for the overtravel is where the spring should be, and the overtravel adjustment should be where you placed the spring.

^^^^eh, I don't know. Certainly the factory trigger has the spring on the back end of the trigger, but RB Sav-1 when installed on model 10/110's has the spring towards the front, as you have it. Like I said, I have not put one on an Axis before. Maybe Fred's right. (MAYBE???? Almost feels like blasphemy!! )

I had sent Rifle Basix an email, asking then about it as well, just to see the response. Here's what they sent back.

So...according to this, I've got it installed correctly. I won't have time to mess with it today(these 12-13hr work days are for the birds!). I'll take a look at it again tomorrow and see.

But, Euthyphro, is Fred right because he's right, or is Fred right because he's Fred?
