Shank size

I'm sure this has been answered, but I am too lazy to search for it. Can a large shank barrel be turned down and re-threaded to a small shank?

Pretty sure it can be. You can also have a small shank action opened up for large shank barrels.

you can turn down a large shank to a small shank, i wouldn't rethread an action though

Most smiths will not open the action up. not very easy to do, compared to turning down the barrel.

Really. I read about quite a few people doing it and this is the first time I have seen a negative reply about it. Good to know.

I had my action opened up for the large shank size without any trouble.
