Does Stevens or did Stevens ever make a SA in 4.27" Screw Spacing...I thought that all Stevens actions were based off of the OLD SAVAGE Flat Top, top bolt release tooling...in 4.4" SA and LA in 5.062"

Capt.,
I'm no expert, but I think the answer to your question is "Yes". I base this on the fact that I own a Stevens Round Top SA with the 4.27" screw spacing and top bolt release. It started life as a 22-250 with a stagger-feed magazine and is in the process of being turned into a 6.5x47 Lapua. So they must have made at least one. :smile-new: I also own a Stevens Round Top SA top bolt release with the 4.4" Screw Spacing and center-feed magazine chambered in 7mm08. The LA Stevens I own are all Round Tops, top bolt release, 5.062" spacing, both stagger-feed and center-feed magazines. I'm not sure if any Stevens LAs are Flat Top. The only Flat Top LA I happen to own is an older Savage 110. Perhaps some one with more knowledge than me can answer that question.

Hope this helps you out.

Stevens made both flat and round back short actions. The 4.4 screw spacing is for the Center feed actions and is newer than the 4.27 screw spacing, which was made for the stagger feed actions. All were made by both Stevens and Savage.

Stevens no longer makes the Stevens 200, which was a cheaper version of the Savage 10/110.

The first Savage Stevens SA I bought was a 4.27" staggerfeed. They renamed it the Stevens 200 when it switched to the 4.40" center feed configuration. They were all top/side bolt release to my knowledge.
