Got pointed over to this site as the Go To place for the in/outs of Savage firearms..... With that being said I've recently acquired a Stevens/Savage 110e in 30-06. I've since come across a factory 375 H&H barrel threaded for the 110 action, but before buying I'm wanting to know if this build can be done on the action I have? I understand that the mag box will have to be enlarged to receive a RUM box(help and direction on where to locate one would be realty appreciated) bolt head replaced, and firing pin from the original larger pin down to the smaller one. This build would be, if at all possible, be going back on the original stock, pending the mag box could be made to fit and I have intentions of this being functioning bolt gun rather than a single shot.

Thanks for for taking the time to read and reply. Any advise and direction on finding and acquiring the necessary parts and pieces would also be greatly appreciated as well. Thanks for your time.

First challenge is doing to be the threads, experts will join in but if its a new 375 it may be the larger shank.

Not up on the Stevens setup so I don't know what shank they were/are.

The action threads should be a standard shank. The big chore is finding a magazine, the .375 H&H used one specific that is no longer made.

The action is long enough then. Shank wise I am thinking the donor barrel if its new possible its larger with a 375 Magnum ?

Following this with interest, don't plan on doing it, but I have been a big fan of 06 growing up and really liked the 375 HH when I got to shoot it.

I know it does not matter what caliber you use to convert but I like the move from 06 to 375

Fred can confirm, but I'm thinking the magazine feed port for the .375 & RUM's was longer than that of the standard long actions. I know this 375 mag box is 1/4" or so longer than my center feed 25-06 mag box just from eyeballing it. If that's the case the bottom of the action would have to be opened up for the longer box to convert it. This is also why the .375 Ruger came to be - to offer .375 H&H performance from a cartridge that would fit in a standard long-action magazine.

I'm not sure but if your rifle is a staggered feed I think you need to remove some material at the rear of the action, I have a Savage 111f 300 win mag and the action is not long enough.

That's what I was referring to above.

Why?????? Fred, isn't this really pushing the platform? Why has Savage gone to large shank on all the belted magnums? If you are shooting a 375 H&H, your target can probably eat you! I guess I want something that I know will eject a misfire and always feed a new round. I'me old but I would like to get a little older.
