Hello, I've been shooting for maybe 15 years. I've done lots of pistol - including 22lr NRA pistol matches with a local team. Rifles have been primarily AR's which I love.
I recently decided I wanted to get into some longer range shooting. In New England that means 600+ yards but only at a few ranges.
To get me rocking and rolling I picked up a used savage hog hunter in 308 - largely because it was cheap and a handy length. I've been tuning it up a bit and I am starting to work on my technique to get this thing dialed in. I started by replacing the stock (Mr Bendy as I like to call it) with a Bell and Carlson Medalist Tactical Varmint. I also added a set of Tulley rings and a SWFA SS 10x42.
Initial groups sizes using match ammo and poorly practiced technique are at about 1.5" at 100yds. Not terrible.
Anyhow, I'll be poking around for words of wisdom and advice on getting tuned up.
Thanks,
Matt
