I guess I should use the post to say hello to the forum. I started with the forum a short time ago specifically to get information on the 10 PC, the Accutrigger and Accustock. I was sold on the rifle after getting to handle and fire one at my local range. I'm still undecided on the digital camo stock and may end up duracoating it. Anyway, thanks for the information I was able to gather here to help make my decision to pick up this rifle. I just got the rings yesterday so I haven't had the opportunity to take this one to the range but I'll keep you posted. I wanted a complete rifle that was accurate out of the box for under $1000 (glass, base, rings included). For those interested, here's some specifics aside from the rifle itself:

Scope: Wonder Optics - Wotac 4-14x50 with Butler Creek #17 Eye Cover and #43 Objective.

Base: EGW 1-Piece 20MOA Picatinny rail.

Rings: Burris XTR 30mm Low Rings

BiPod: Harris HBRM-S 6"-9"

Cheek Pad: Tac Ops

I have the same rifle in .308 If it shoots as well as mine, and it should, you'll like it. I too was leary of the camo stock. It grew on me. I painted the metal and the scope flat olive. It picks up the dark olive in the camo.

Thanks for the comments. The stock finish has started to grow on me but I'm a little bummed I didn't get to the range this weekend after I mounted the scope. Will have to wait until next week. If this one shoots as well as the one I had the opportunity to shoot at the range, I'll be very happy.

Do you find that the bolt handle is too close to the scope with those XTR low rings? I've been considering these rings for mine but can't decide between the low and medium height. My scope objective is 42 mm, a little smaller than yours.

I had the same concerns as I didn't have the opportunity to test fit the rings for bolt handle clearance. I actually bought a set of lows and mediums just in case. Bolt handle clears the scope nicely with the low rings.

Glad to help and hope Midway has them in stock. I cancelled my back order with them on the low rings after getting a pair from a member on another forum.

Any updates on shooting experience / accuracy with the new gun? I'm drooling to get one...

Boston, thanks for the pics & it is interesting that you reason to join the forum is the same as mine, I wanted to learn what I can before my next 308 purchase (also wanted to learn how to build Sav. Rifles) & the PC is my number 1 choice at this time. I am wondering about the accustock change & other things, but it looks like the way to go.

Well, I finally got the rifle to the range. I knew it would be a couple of weeks given my schedule so I sent my bolt out to Keith Johns at AZ Precision to have the knob changed and it came back this past Thursday so I headed off to the range this afternoon. I need to develop my skills to get the full potential out of this rifle. I fired 40 rounds at the range today. The first seven were to zero at 25 yards and all was good. The next 5 rounds at 50 yards took minimum adjustment but I realized I was running out of elevation adjustment (20 MOA rail will get changed to a Zero MOA for short range). At 100 yards, I was 5" low so after compensating 8 rounds to consistently hit center, I put up 2 targets for 2 ten round reports.

This is my first new bolt action rifle in over 15 years and I'm looking forward to getting better consistent groups. The rifle is capable, that I know.

Rifle: Savage 10 Precision Carbine .223
Scope: Wotac 4-14x50
Rail: EGW 20 MOA
Rings: Burris XTR 30mm Low
Ammo: PMC 223 Rem 55 gr. FMJBT
Distance: 100 yards

I'd say you did pretty good. Looks like most shots within 1" except a few you pulled getting used to a new trigger. Another box or two and you will zen with this gun.

Thanks Wahoo and here's hoping. I was getting a bit excited when I saw the group coming together. I have some Black Hills 68 gr Match coming this week and I'm going to put the flat rail back on for now. I'd like to get another 50 rounds in and get my fundamentals down. All in all, I did enjoy myself today. Nothing like a new rifle!

Why install a rail over using the stock bases?

Why install a rail over using the stock bases?

Sorry if I'm misunderstanding the question but the PC receiver comes drilled and tapped but no stock bases. I originally installed a 20MOA rail with the intent of zeroing at 100 but ran out of adjustment. I had a 0MOA as well so I swapped the two rails out and I'll get it back to the range.
