Is this scout "mount" standard for the period or is this a bubbafied setup. I know nothing about it, I have seen that repro magazines can be found. Bore is actually in pretty good shape.

Serial number is 204xxx any one have a idea when it might have been built?

Thanks in advance.

Take some Big 45 Frontier wool to that rust. It should remove it, without hurting the bluing.

Found 2 original mags in the basement over the weekend, along with a couple of boxes of ammo that I have no idea how old they may be.

Those mags are probably worth more then the gun!!

I love my 23's. I had a nice 23A in my hand and put it down... went back fifteen minutes later as I convinced myself...it was being sold.

I had a 22 Hornet for about a week... My Grandfather left it to me or so I was told. Turns out he left it to my brother!! haha, I got a second 23B! So two B's and one C live with me now and I would not trade or sell for nuttin'!

Having two 23B rifles I decided to drill the rattier version for conventional weaver bases and mounted a Leupold 2x7. (My favorite scope). I loaded up 100 rnds just last week and hit the range Saturday. She is quite a shooter shooting 5 into one hole at 50 yards! I have been coyote hunting with it last few years, that 75g Speer FP sure packs a wallup! it puts them down faster than my buddys 223!

The mount looks like a basic Weaver S2 or T1 but the scope has me scratching my head.

Doesn't say "Stevens" on it anywhere does it?

Does look like a small pre WW1 Stevens/Cataract, doesn't it? If it is, it's a rare find, even without the mounts.

How did the guy who mounted it expect to zero it?

Sorry I have been off the board a long time. I am not sure on if the scope says anything on it but I will check it this evening.

Still haven't got a chance to check the scope for any markings but here is a pic of my wife's grandfather hunting with it (most likely deer)

That was probably a bad ass gun back in the day but hey, the Jordan buck was taken with a 25-20, just goes to prove the difference between shot placement and caliber.
