So I'm hand loaded for my first ladder test. .308 FGGM 175 IMR 4064 38.5 up to 43.5 Fed brass CCI 200 primers. Gonna be at 300yrds. My question is how "tall" should my paper be with that load range? Really don't want to loose any and don't want to look like an idiot at the range with a 9ft tall target(exaggerating).

175 grain bullet at 300 yards will have a fair amount of drop, I would suggest that you have a 40-48 inch piece of paper. Better to have too much than lose data.

I would also place my point of aim at the top 3/4 of the paper, assuming you are zeroed at 100 yards.

unless you are an above average shooter and are very familiar with ladder tests id suggest you shoot an OCW test instead of a ladder test...IMO youll find a load easier and faster with an OCW.
